🐷🏠 Our Kindergarten and 5th grade buddies recently teamed up for an exciting STEM project! Together, they designed and built sturdy houses for the Three Little Pigs, aiming to create structures strong enough to withstand the huff and puff of the Big, Bad Wolf.

📊✨ Our two 5th grade classes transformed their math lesson on decimals into an engaging and interactive project! Each student designed their very own vending machine to incorporate a real-life scenario to practice adding and subtracting decimals. They considered different items, prices, and how customers would use money to purchase snacks or treats, making their math learning meaningful and practical.
🍫🥤To put their creations into action, the vending machines were on display for a day, and then other students and staff from across the school were invited to place pretend orders. This gave the 5th graders the opportunity to test their calculations and experience the fun of running a mock vending machine business, all while reinforcing their decimal skills. It was a fantastic way to combine math with creativity and collaboration!

📝✨ Our middle school language arts students explored their creativity through a blackout poetry exercise!
📖 Using pages from old books, they carefully selected words to craft unique poems and “blacked out” the rest of the text to form powerful visual art pieces. Seeing how each student’s imagination brought new meaning to the printed words is amazing!

🏐 Our incredible 5th/6th grade Volleyball team made history on November 2nd, bringing home UCA’s first middle school trophy! Ranked #4 going into the tournament, they defied the odds with an unforgettable championship win.
The final showdown was a heart-stopping 2-1 battle, ending in a thrilling comeback in the last set. With pure determination, they clinched the title with a 16-14 victory, showing true heart and resilience. In a beautiful moment after the game, the team gathered to thank God for this incredible achievement. 💜
A huge congratulations to Coach Berry and Coach Carufel for guiding these players to this proud milestone. This victory is a celebration for the entire UCA family! Go Thunder! 🏆

💃 🕺Our high school students had an opportunity to learn swing dancing from one of our own teachers, Mrs. Diamond, and her husband! Mr. and Mrs. Diamond are often found chaperoning high school events where they have displayed their swing dancing skills.
They offered this session to students who had shown interest in learning this fun style of dance from the 1940s. It was a fun evening filled with music, laughter, and lots of learning as they practiced their steps and discovered the joy of swing. Thanks to our amazing instructors for bringing such a fun and unique experience to our students!

✈️ Behind the Scenes at Delta! ✈️
Our Aviation 2 students had an incredible opportunity to go behind the scenes at MSP with Delta! They explored everything from baggage claim to the deicing facilities and even visited the control room where flights are planned, and gate assignments are made. The highlight? Driving around the tarmac and getting a whole new perspective on the airport!

🕺 To review parallel lines and transversals before their test, our Geometry students took on a unique challenge—Dance Dance Revolution style!
Each move required them to place their feet in the correct positions to show specific angle relationships. It was a fun, interactive way to reinforce geometry concepts and get moving at the same time. 💃

🇨🇳 🖼️ Our high school Chinese class recently took an exciting field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Asia Mall! At the museum, students explored ancient Asian artifacts and artwork, gaining a deeper understanding of the culture and history they’re studying in class.
Afterward, they visited the Asia Mall, where they tasted authentic cuisine and experienced some shopping and a vibrant atmosphere of Chinese culture. 🥢🥠🍜

🏅 Congratulations to Petra and Leighton, our UCA Athletes of the Week!
🏐 Petra has been a great leader for our Volleyball program. She had a fantastic senior season, finishing it off with a strong performance in the section playoff game. She also led the team in kills this season.
⚽️ Leighton gave everything he had this year leading the team well as a Junior. He showed strong resilience, fighting against injuries most of the year, but that did not bring him down. Even when his foot was broken, he came through to score two goals in a game.

The UCA girls volleyball players and coaches recently hosted a clinic for our elementary students. They spent two hours after school learning the basics of the game, going through some drills, and talking about teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Our elementary students laced up their sneakers and took to the track for this year’s Jog-A-Thon! Each lap was filled with excitement, encouragement, and a whole lot of UCA spirit. These young runners pushed themselves and cheered each other on, making it a memorable day of fitness, fun, and fundraising!
