🎶A select group of our band students, nominated by Mr. Curtis, were awarded the incredible opportunity to participate in the High School Honor Band at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. 🎺
🎼 Last Saturday, they spent the entire day learning and rehearsing several pieces of advanced music alongside other high school students from the metro area and guest conductors and composers brought in for this event. The finale for the day was a concert for friends and family. 🎷
This prestigious event recognizes their dedication, talent, and hard work as musicians. It’s an amazing opportunity for them to collaborate with other talented students and perform at an advanced level. 👏✨

🏀 Boys middle school and high school basketball games for today (1/21) have been canceled due to there being no heat in the gym. 🥶
School is canceled for Tuesday, Jan 21.
As of right now, all after-school activities are on as scheduled.
Today, we take time to reflect on the powerful legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His life reminds us to look beyond outward differences and see the true character of each individual. 💬 His message continues to challenge and inspire us to treat others with respect and seek to honor God in how we value one another.
🇺🇸 🙏 This day also marks the inauguration of our new president. As we witness the transition of leadership, let us come together in prayer for our leaders. Pray that they would be guided by wisdom, courage, and a heart to do what is right.

🏀 Kyra grabbed 11 rebounds in 8 minutes against Heritage Academy last Friday. She also hit her first three-pointer in a game setting that night - a huge milestone for any athlete!

Our 1st grade students returned from music class to find their chairs had gone on strike! 😱🪑 Feeling underappreciated, the chairs refused to be sat on, leaving the kids to enjoy their snacks on the floor.
The students read the book “Chairs on Strike” and then wrote heartfelt letters to convince their chairs to come back. 📖✍️ Once finished, they read their persuasive letters aloud, pouring their hearts into showing just how much they value their chairs.
In the end, the chairs were moved by the students’ words and decided to return, feeling much more appreciated. 🥰 The kids were overjoyed to have their trusty chairs back! What a fun and creative way to practice writing and speaking skills, as well as gratitude!

📖 💜To start the second semester, Mr. Andrews asked his 7th grade history students to tell him what they wanted to do differently in their class. What started as a way to do some self-evaluation for improving his teaching turned into a discovery of the hearts of these students. They asked for more biblical integration into their class work and conversations, more time in prayer for each other, to exercise more spiritual care for each other, and to have class devotions led by the students. It’s amazing to see them take ownership of their spiritual growth.
🙏 So, in addition to learning what the big project will be for this quarter, these students started their class period with prayer for a student in need and a devotion led by Ellie. Her willingness to step up and share with her peers is an inspiring reminder of the power of faith and leadership.
Way to go - we’re so proud of our students! 🌟

📚👨🏫 Today, our Head of School stepped in as a substitute teacher—and he looked like a natural being back in that role! With his passion for education and love for connecting with students, it was clear he has not missed a beat.

🏀 Ady has stepped up in a big way this season, playing crucial minutes for her team. She is currently the second-leading scorer on the team and ranks 27th in the state for made three-pointers!
🏀 Lydia has had an incredible start to the season helping to lead the team to a strong 7-2 record. She is ranked in the state for several stats: 12th in scoring (24.2 points per game), 9th in rebounds (14 per game), 30th in assists (42 total), 13th in steals (55 total), and 46th in blocks (11 total).

☕🎄 The annual 3rd-grade Christmas Cocoa Café was a huge success! Staff members from the school, as well as from Cedar Valley Church, were invited to be guests at this event.
🍫☕ Hosted in Mrs. Ray's classroom, this project involved lots of planning, teamwork, and execution, and the students did an amazing job bringing it all together! From greeting guests to taking orders to serving delicious cocoa, their effort and enthusiasm made the café a highlight of the season.

🎄🎅 Yesterday, our staff also took their turn for a Christmas party! The afternoon was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and holiday cheer. 🎁🎶
They played the dice game to win (and steal) gifts, a hilarious round of unscrambling song lyrics, and an intense cotton ball toss into plastic cups. Who knew throwing cotton balls could be so competitive? 😂
The competition was fierce, but the joy and camaraderie were even greater. It’s always a blessing to come together as a team and celebrate the season! 💜🎄
