🎶🎷 Our high school students recently participated in the MN State High School League Contests for Band and Choir! 🎤🎼
On separate days, our talented band and choir students performed the music they had prepared for a panel of judges, who provided scores and feedback based on their performances.
The judges shared valuable critiques and tips for improvement, helping students refine their skills. It was a fantastic opportunity to receive feedback beyond their own director and soak up some well-earned positive affirmations! 🎺🎵
Both Mr. Curtis and Ms. White are incredibly proud of their students for their dedication, perseverance, and ability to perform under pressure. 👏

✈️ Our aviation students have been hard at work on some hands-on projects!
🔧 The Aviation 2 class built four-cylinder engine kits, gaining a deeper understanding of how airplane engines function and the precision required in their construction.
🔧 Meanwhile, another group is learning aluminum sheet metal construction techniques, applying real-world skills used in aircraft assembly. These students met with a previous Aviation teacher and two pilots from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in a hangar that also houses UCA’s experimental KR-1 plane.

Our 2nd graders had a blast in P.E. with a game of "Junk Bowling!" 🎳
They worked on their large motor skills and perfected their bowling form as they aimed at empty bottles and containers set up across the room. Each knocked-over item earned them points, making for a fun and energetic way to practice coordination and accuracy! 💪😁
All this is preparing them for the next unit, cosmic bowling, with real bowling balls and pins.🎳

🎺 🥁 Our high school band students have put on two “mini concerts”, playing for younger students and their peers as they gear up for the MSHSL Band Contest tomorrow! 🎼
🎶 Our band will be given 30 minutes to perform three songs for judges who will grade against a rubric. They will then give feedback and provide instructions on how to improve.
👏🎷 Their hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and we are so proud of the music they’ve created together. Best of luck to our talented musicians—your UCA family is cheering you on!

🤫 Secret’s Out… Our teachers and staff have been having an Underground Spirit Week!
Each day, we dressed up in themed outfits, all while keeping it completely under wraps from the students. 🤐
The best part? Watching their confused faces as they tried to figure out, with no explanation, why their teachers were suddenly all wearing flannel, or all black. Why do they all have socks and sandals on? And, why were they all drinking out of random containers? 😆
It’s been a fun way to build some staff camaraderie and add a little mystery to the week!

🦉Our 6th grade scientists rolled up their sleeves this week for an exciting lab—dissecting owl pellets! Using tools and plenty of curiosity, they carefully examined the pellets and identified the bones inside. From tiny skulls to delicate rib bones, each was a clue to learning about the diets and ecosystems of these fascinating birds. 🔍 🦴

🙌 ✝️ Our High School Apologetics students are diving into objective morality as a powerful argument for God’s existence.
📖 🗣️ They were split into four groups, each assigned one key question to research. Two students from each group then stepped up to the front of the room to teach their peers what they learned, sparking insightful discussions and deeper understanding.
We’re so proud of these students for sharpening their critical thinking and communication skills while exploring important truths about faith and morality! 🙏✨

✈️ Our aviation classes have been hard at work with two exciting labs this week!
📡 🛫One group practiced communication skills used in air traffic control, learning the language and precision required for guiding planes safely through the skies. With the appropriate commands, the students guided each other through the runways and flight patterns taped on the ground.
🕹️🛬The other group hit the flight simulators, sharpening their piloting skills and experiencing what it’s like to fly and navigate different aircraft in different conditions.
These hands-on experiences are key steps in preparing for future opportunities in aviation. 🚀

😁🪥Our 1st graders were all smiles as they received oral hygiene kits from Delta Dental and the State of Minnesota! Miss Anderson walked them through each item in the kit—toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, timers, and tracking charts—and taught them how to use everything to keep their teeth healthy and strong. 🦷✨
To wrap it up, the students practiced brushing their teeth for two full minutes, just like the pros recommend! 🕒🦷 Thank you, Delta Dental, for helping our students build healthy habits that will last a lifetime!

⚖️🚢 Our 7th grade Language Arts students stepped into the courtroom for an exciting mock trial exercise after reading "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle." Acting as lawyers, witnesses, and jury members, they debated key moments from the story, using evidence and persuasive arguments to determine the verdict.
📚This hands-on activity helped sharpen their critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills—all while bringing the novel to life! Fantastic job, future lawyers and storytellers! 🔍🗣️
