❄️Miss Wilson's 2nd graders and their parents staged an epic snowball fight to finish out 2023! At their Christmas party, the students were told to grab their snowballs and make their plans, but they didn't know about their surprise guests, the Head of School and the Principal! 🛡️⚔️The battle was intense, but all in good fun! Smiles and laughter filled the room as the snowballs were flying. Good sportsmanship was the theme, ending the battle by shaking hands. #ucathunder #ucaelementary

Mrs. Aunan helped our 4th grade students get some of their holiday excitement and wiggles out before heading home for Christmas break.🤪 In their Phy Ed class, they participated in “Junk Bowling” and a “Dress your Snowman” relay race.🎳⛄ With each bowling turn, the students tried to knock down as many items of junk as they could. Then, they were collected together in their teams to see who knocked down the most.🏆 Then, a “snowman” was chosen for each team to dress up. Classmates took turns running across the gym to add something to their snowman on each turn. The race was on to create a snowman wearing the most items in the given time.🏃 #ucathunder #ucaelementary

☕☑️The 3rd-grade class invited all of the UCA staff into their classroom, which they had turned into a cozy “Cocoa Cafe.” The cafe was open for business for an hour. For the staff that couldn’t make it, some of the students went to them to take their to-go orders. 🤝This project touched on problem-solving and collaboration skills as the students worked on planning, organizing, advertising, hosting, and serving together. 🙏💜 The friendly and welcoming experience and environment blessed our staff. Way to go, 3rd graders! You are part of the reason that UCA is such a wonderful place! #ucathunder

🚪 🎄 Middle School students gathered into their house groups to decorate doors for Christmas. Each house drew a movie to base its theme on. 🎅 🎨 🖍️ Students collaborated to formulate a plan and execute the artistic masterpieces that portrayed their movie as best they could. 🏆 The winning house was Fide, with Polar Express! #ucathunder #ucahousesystem

✝️🏠The UCA House system was established to glorify God and to provide students a dynamic, exciting, and proven way to develop a positive school culture, train leaders, and foster discipleship. It promotes character, academic achievement, school spirit, a family atmosphere, and a sense of belonging. 👩‍👧👨‍👦Our Big and Little Buddy program within the house system has highlighted the importance of leadership in our older students. Relationships are formed at the beginning of each year, and strengthened throughout the year as the groups spend time together and build relationships. 🎄🧑‍🎄Ugly Christmas sweaters have been plentiful recently! Students and staff wore them as a way to show the Christmas spirit. In addition, both 5th-grade classes took part in decorating their paper version of an ugly Christmas sweater. Then, other staff members took their turns voting for their favorites.🗳️ 🎄🌟Glitter, pom-poms, and tinsel were everywhere, but more importantly, there were smiles on the student's faces as they shared their creativity and the Christmas spirit. #ucaelementary #ucathunder

📣 Coming Soon… “Peter Pan: There’s More to the Story” 🧚 ✝️ Each year, UCA puts on a Spring Ministry Production performed by our PreK through 7th grade students. These are familiar stories, adapted by Mrs. Chant and Mrs. Strand, emphasizing a biblical message. 🎭 Earlier this week, our 7th graders were the first to learn what this year’s play would be, as they have the main acting and speaking parts. 🎶🎄 ¡Feliz Navidad! 🎄🎶 Our middle and high school Spanish students brought festive joy to various classrooms, singing beautiful Christmas carols... in Spanish! 🇪🇸🎤 Señorita Luttio guided her students through the learning process to be able to sing several songs for each classroom. Working on pronunciation and grammar, they brought their peers a new level of Christmas spirit. 🎅 🎵 #ucathunder

🚀 🔍 Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in action. Our 6th graders embarked on a scientific adventure with Mr. Pugsley. With creativity and determination, they took on the challenge of designing and testing their very own catapults. 📐📏 The experiment was filled with ups and downs, reminding them of the importance of embracing mistakes as opportunities for growth.🌟 While there were many insightful discussions and innovative adjustments, the best part may have been catapulting marshmallows at their teacher! 👨‍🏫 #ucathunder #ucastem

Mrs. Anderson’s first-grade class delved into a special Bible lesson inspired by the sweet symbolism of the candy cane! 🍬📚 As the children unwrapped the story behind the candy cane, they discovered that its shape holds a powerful message. The shape reminds us of the Staff and that Jesus is our Good Shepherd. Turned upside down, we see the letter “J” for the name of Jesus. Red represents His sacrifice and blood shed, while the white reminds us He is sinless and holy. What a beautiful way to tie in the true meaning of Christmas with a timeless treat! 🎄❤️ They flipped through their Bibles, reading verses that resonated with the significance of the candy cane. It is fun to witness their excitement and curiosity as they connect the dots between scripture and this symbol of faith. 📖 #ucathunder #ucaelementary #ucachristcenterededucation
