🎳 Our 4th graders have been refining their bowling skills in Phy Ed, but with a fun twist—Cosmic Bowling! 🌌✨ The gym lights were low, the pins were set, and the excitement was high! Instead of traditional scoring, students used a system that tied into other popular childhood games, making it an extra engaging and interactive experience. 🌿🐟🐛Our biology students kicked off an exciting Ecosystem in a Bottle lab! They carefully built and connected both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, adding a minnow, an earthworm, and a cricket to observe how these living organisms interact in their environment. 🌍 Over the next few weeks, they will monitor their ecosystems and explore the cycling of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen—key elements that sustain life. Today in chapel, our elementary principal introduced our new monthly theme: Jehovah Nissi – The Lord is My Banner! ✨ To help illustrate the Bible story, he invited some student helpers on stage for a hands-on demonstration. 🎶🎷 Our high school students recently participated in the MN State High School League Contests for Band and Choir! 🎤🎼 On separate days, our talented band and choir students performed the music they had prepared for a panel of judges, who provided scores and feedback based on their performances. The judges shared valuable critiques and tips for improvement, helping students refine their skills. It was a fantastic opportunity to receive feedback beyond their own director and soak up some well-earned positive affirmations! 🎺🎵 Both Mr. Curtis and Ms. White are incredibly proud of their students for their dedication, perseverance, and ability to perform under pressure. 👏 #ucathunder #ucahighschool #ucafinearts

✈️ Our aviation students have been hard at work on some hands-on projects! 🔧 The Aviation 2 class built four-cylinder engine kits, gaining a deeper understanding of how airplane engines function and the precision required in their construction. 🔧 Meanwhile, another group is learning aluminum sheet metal construction techniques, applying real-world skills used in aircraft assembly. These students met with a previous Aviation teacher and two pilots from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in a hangar that also houses UCA’s experimental KR-1 plane. #ucathunder #ucahighschool #ucastem

Our 2nd graders had a blast in P.E. with a game of "Junk Bowling!" 🎳 They worked on their large motor skills and perfected their bowling form as they aimed at empty bottles and containers set up across the room. Each knocked-over item earned them points, making for a fun and energetic way to practice coordination and accuracy! 💪😁 All this is preparing them for the next unit, cosmic bowling, with real bowling balls and pins.🎳 #ucaelementary

🎺 🥁 Our high school band students have put on two “mini concerts”, playing for younger students and their peers as they gear up for the MSHSL Band Contest tomorrow! 🎼 🎶 Our band will be given 30 minutes to perform three songs for judges who will grade against a rubric. They will then give feedback and provide instructions on how to improve. 👏🎷 Their hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and we are so proud of the music they’ve created together. 🤫 Secret’s Out… Our teachers and staff have been having an Underground Spirit Week! Each day, we dressed up in themed outfits, all while keeping it completely under wraps from the students. 🤐 The best part? Watching their confused faces as they tried to figure out, with no explanation, why their teachers were suddenly all wearing flannel, or all black. Why do they all have socks and sandals on? And, why were they all drinking out of random containers? 😆 It’s been a fun way to build some staff camaraderie and add a little mystery to the week! #ucathunder #ucastaff

🔐 Our 5th graders put their problem-solving skills to the test with Breakout EDU, an interactive, game-based learning experience that brings the excitement of escape rooms into the classroom! 🏆🕵️‍♂️ Last week, during their Valentine’s Day celebration, their challenge was to unlock the lessons of the Bible through teamwork, critical thinking, and a whole lot of fun!
