🥁 🎤 This week, we witnessed the birth of some musical magic as our 1st-grade superstars transformed their music class into a full-fledged band! 🎶🌟Our little musicians embarked on an incredible journey with Mrs. Tasler as they explored the world of rhythm, melody, and teamwork. With a sparkle in their eyes and instruments in hand, they eagerly embraced the challenge of "making a band." #ucathunder #ucaelementary

🍏 📚Ms. Flaga's classroom recently transformed into an orchard of wonder as our kindergartners learned about the life of John Champman, aka Johnny Appleseed, as he followed God's leading to plant apple trees!🍎🌱 To go along with the folklore, we made hats that looked like pots, learned the Johnny Appleseed prayer song, and did many fun activities to celebrate apples! We even went down to the school office to perform our song!🎶 🍏 What's a Johnny Appleseed day without some delicious apple treats? Our kindergartners enjoyed a healthy snack time, savoring the goodness of freshly sliced apples. #ucathunder #ucaelementary

🇨🇳 Learning Chinese characters is a fascinating and rewarding journey! Mrs. Mi is leading our 6th graders through this journey using Play-Doh as they learn about Chinese characters. Like learning any language, practice and repetition are key to mastering Chinese characters. What a fun way to learn! #ucathunder

📚Our 9th and 10th grade Language Arts students created reading timelines highlighting ten books that have impacted their lives. 📈💡Students created their timelines in whatever format they desired while exercising executive functioning skills to plan and create as they worked to meet the content and literacy criteria. 🌎 They were excited to share their creativity and talk about the books from infancy until today that have influenced their love of reading and/or shaped their knowledge of the world. #ucathunder #ucaupperschool

Our Third graders have been learning about the impacts of having a soul with free will. 🎭 Recently, along with their student teacher, Mrs. Charlton, they acted out paraphrased scenarios of the Good Samaritan to reinforce the difference between the genuine love of a free-will being and that of a robot. 🤖 💜 We love our DeepRoots Bible curriculum! #ucathunder #ucaelementary

#tuesdaytestimonial - Grandparent Edition 💜 Having grandparents actively be part of our community is such a blessing! We can see the Christ-centered values passed down and carried out through the generations. "We have the joy to drive our grandsons, Jack and Luke, to school a few times each week. It gives us a window into their day and to hear about school. They always tell us about Chapel and how much they love that time of hearing the speaker teach about the Lord and to get to worship the Lord with their classmates! We enjoy helping and hearing them recite their scripture verses as we drive home after school. We are grateful for the opportunity our grandsons have at UCA to be taught a Biblical world view along with strong academics. We thank God daily for a school where Christ is put first! We are also thankful for the welcoming smiles from teachers in the morning as we drop off the boys and pick them up. One time Mr. Morrison opened the car door for the boys and I thanked him for all his hard work and he replied it was his dream job! What a joy to know that he and all the teachers and staff love showing our grandsons the love and joy of Christ. Thank you UCA!!" #ucathunder

Over the past few weeks, Mrs. Troost's kindergarteners have been on an extraordinary journey, observing the incredible metamorphosis of caterpillars into chrysalises and, finally, into vibrant butterflies. 🐛🦋 Under the loving care of our students, these tiny creatures grew, transformed, and became symbols of resilience and beauty. The students learned valuable lessons about patience, empathy, and the delicate balance of nature. 🌿💛 It was a moment of magic as they watched these delicate creatures take flight, dancing on the breeze. ✨ #ucathunder #ucaelementary #ucastem

💫 Impact Beyond the Game ⚽️ Coach Chad Peters will be stepping down from coaching after this soccer season. He has been a pillar of our coaching staff for 23 years, both at UCA and Bethany Academy, one of our Legacy Schools, before that. It's not just about the wins and losses; Coach has been a mentor, confidant, and role model for our students and athletes. He has taught life lessons that extend far beyond the soccer field, shaping the character and futures of our players. 💜 👏 We honored Coach Peters at our recent Super Soccer Saturday event. People who were either coached, taught, or impacted in any way were asked to join him at midfield. A few people spoke about the coach's impact on their lives, and we prayed over him as a group. 📸 For the finale, a group photo was taken with everyone standing in one of Coach's famous cross-armed stances! 🙏 Thank you for all you have done to touch the lives of our students, athletes, and beyond! #ucathunder #ucaathletics

🧪 Young scientists at work 🔬 Armed with curiosity and lab equipment, our young scientists carefully selected different types of rocks, ranging from limestone to granite. They've exposed these rocks to various chemical agents, mimicking the forces of nature, such as rainwater, acids, and even soil microorganisms. 🌦️🌧️ 🌍As the chemical reactions take place, our students are documenting the changes in the rocks' composition, texture, and appearance. It's incredible to witness the gradual but powerful effects of chemical weathering! 🌱🏞️ #ucathunder #ucastem

📚👧 IF you give a Geometry student a children's book, THEN... Miss Caron and her geometry students used children's books to learn and practice conditional statements. Using the "if-then" statements from the books, they practiced identifying a hypothesis and conclusion, converse statements, inverse and contrapositives, and more!🤯 Conditional statements are a cornerstone of deductive reasoning, which is crucial in geometry and many other mathematical disciplines. Using these stories was a very creative way to teach and learn this lesson!👍 🌟 #ucathunder #ucahighschool #ucastem

🍎 🍏 Apple Afternoon! 🍏 🍎 Last week, our two first grade classes joined together for an afternoon of apple-themed activities. 👩‍🍳 They started in the morning by combining the ingredients to make applesauce that would be tasted in the afternoon. 😋 The classroom then turned into all things apple! 🍎 Parent volunteers joined the fun to help the students work through all the activities. 📸 🖊️ Miss Anderson's class even practiced writing sentences and captioned the pictures and activities: "This is a really fun school. We had an Apple Day. We colored apple hats and did apple centers. We got to sit under tables. We got to eat applesauce with our parents and friends. We had a blast"! #ucathunder #ucaelementary
