As Susan Larson prepares to retire from her position of Finance Director here at UCA, we have the opportunity to celebrate someone whose impact is immeasurable. She may be one of our most behind-the-scenes team members, but her influence is felt by every single one of us. While it would be nearly impossible to list everything she has done in her role, one thing is certain: UCA would not be where it is today without the countless hours, hard work, dedication, and yes, even the hilarious one-liners, that Susan has poured into our school.
Susan is a shining example of devotion. Her deep love for UCA and its mission has been evident in the way she has faithfully served our community, often in ways that others may never fully see or realize.
At first glance, the role of Finance Director might seem like a job focused entirely on facts, figures, and spreadsheets. But in a Christian school, financial decisions are rarely just black and white. Behind every number are real students, real families, real circumstances, and real needs.
Finding the balance between keeping the school financially strong and making Christian education accessible to families requires far more than a head for numbers. It takes wisdom, discernment, patience, grace, and compassion. Susan has brought all of these qualities to her work, consistently demonstrating that sound financial stewardship and a heart for people go hand in hand.
As we celebrate Susan’s retirement, we want to recognize not only all that she has accomplished, but also the heart with which she has done it. Her legacy is one of faithful service, perseverance, wisdom, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the mission of UCA.
Susan, thank you for the many years you have invested in this school, for the care you have shown our staff and families, and for the countless ways you have helped make UCA what it is today. Your presence and contributions will be deeply missed, but the impact of your work will continue for generations of students and families to come.
We are so grateful for you, Susan. As you begin this next chapter, we pray it is filled with joy, rest, and many new adventures. You have certainly earned it. Thank you for your faithful service to UCA.
